New Delhi: For lakhs of Central Government pensioners residing in remote districts not covered by CGHS wellness centers, the Fixed Medical Allowance (FMA) is the only support for OPD expenses. The 8th Pay Commission is strongly expected to triple this allowance to reflect rising medicine costs.

Eligibility Rule (Distance Clause):
“FMA is granted only to those pensioners who reside in areas more than 2.5 KMs away from the nearest CGHS Wellness Centre or Polyclinic. You must submit an undertaking to your bank to claim this.”
