CBSE Class 12 Private Practicals 2026: Exam Dates, Venues And Pro-Rata Rules

CBSE Class 12 Private Candidate Practical Exams 2026

Under the provisions contained in the examination Bye-Laws, practical examinations are required to be conducted in respect of specific categories of Class-XII private students. As of Friday, February 20, 2026, the Board has issued guidelines stating that these Practical Examinations shall be conducted from 23 February 2026 to 17 March 2026. The guidelines aim to streamline the coordination between Regional Offices, Centre Superintendents, and the appointed examiners.

The Practical Examinations shall be conducted in the examination centres fixed for theory examinations.

What Documents Must Private Students Bring To The Centre?

The students or examinees shall contact their examination centres without fail with a copy of their Previous Result or Mark sheet and Admit Card of the current examination, i.e., 2026. Additionally, the students or examinees shall note the date and time of Practical Examination given by the Examination Centre and report for the Practical Examination at the Examination Centre on time.

How Are Examiners Appointed For The Practicals?

The Regional Directors or Officers will appoint External Examiners for all students of Class-XII. Under no circumstances the Centre Superintendent of the Examination Centre shall appoint External Examiners at their own. The Internal examiners shall be appointed by the Centre superintendent from their own school teachers. In case teachers are not available in the examination Centre school in any subject for appointment as internal examiners, teachers from nearby schools shall be appointed.

Mark Uploading And DA Impact On Examiner Remuneration 2026

After the conduct of Practical Examinations, the centres will upload the marks in respect of private students whose Practicals have been conducted at the centre. Crucially, the award lists will also be uploaded on the day of Practical Examination itself. In practice, many Centre Superintendents delay uploading the award lists on the same day, which stalls the entire regional compilation and triggers audit queries. Furthermore, staff acting as internal and external examiners receive remuneration that correlates with central allowances. The table below illustrates the impact of the latest 55 percent Dearness Allowance on standard basic pay levels, which often serves as a benchmark for departmental duty allowances.

Pay Level Old Figure (Basic) Calculation Formula New Figure (At 55 Percent) Monthly Gain Annual Gain
Level 1 Rs 18,000 18,000 x 0.55 Rs 9,900 Rs 900 Rs 10,800
