The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has started issuing Provisional Appointment Orders for Social Security Assistants (SSA) via email and post. Candidates usually get 15 to 30 days to report to the Regional Office mentioned in the letter along with the original documents and Medical Certificate.

1. The Mandatory Checklist
Carry 3 sets of self-attested photocopies and all Originals.

2. Medical Fitness Certificate
You cannot join without this. The format is usually attached to your appointment letter.
🏥 Where to get it signed?
- Authority: Must be signed by a Civil Surgeon or Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of a Government District Hospital.
- Private Doctors: Certificates from private clinics or MBBS doctors are NOT accepted.
- Tests: Eye test, Urine, Blood (CBC), and X-Ray Chest are standard. Carry these reports to the CMO.
3. Character & Attestation Form
📝 The ‘Attestation Form’ (Police Verification):
You will fill this in triplicate (3 copies). This form triggers your Police Verification. Do not hide any past FIR or court case here.
✍️ Character Certificate:
You usually need two separate certificates signed by two different Gazetted Officers (SDM, Tehsildar, Principal of Govt College, etc.). They must attest that they know you for at least 2 years.

Can I ask for an extension?
Yes. If you have a valid reason (medical or notice period in current job), you can request an extension by emailing the Regional PF Commissioner. Extensions up to 1-2 months are usually granted.
Is there a probation period?
Yes. The probation period for SSA is 2 years. During this time, you must pass the mandatory departmental computer skill test/training to get confirmed.
