Order Summary
The Ministry of Railways (Railway Board), vide RBE No. 03/2026, has reviewed the scheme regarding the engagement of Ex-Servicemen on a contract basis against vacancies in the Safety Category of Pointsman (Traffic Department).
Keeping in view the acute shortage of staff in the Operating Department and to ensure safe train operations, the Competent Authority has decided to extend the currency of the scheme for a further period.

Powers Delegated to GMs
General Managers (GMs) of Zonal Railways are empowered to sanction these engagements. The engagement will be on a contract basis for a period up to 31.12.2028, or until selected candidates from RRB/RRC join the post, whichever is earlier.

- Designation: Pointsman (Operating Dept)
- Medical Standard: Aye-Two (A-2)
- Age Limit: Not exceeding 65 Years
- Duty: Field duties in Safety Category
✖ Non-Admissibility
- Allowances: No HRA or Transport Allowance (TPTA)
- Status: No claim for regularization or permanent absorption
- Pension: Defence pension remains unaffected
Remuneration Formula
The consolidated monthly remuneration for contract staff will be fixed as per the standard formula: Last Pay Drawn minus Basic Pension.
