Retiring employees are entitled to a Composite Transfer Grant (CTG) to cover packing and settling costs. The amount depends on where you settle.
тЬФ Full CTG (80% of Basic)
- Condition: If you settle at a station more than 20 km away from your last duty station.
- Requirement: Actual change of residence must be involved.
тЬЦ Partial/Nil CTG
- Same Station: If you settle within 20 km, CTG is 1/3rd of 80% (only if actual shifting of house occurs).
- Time Limit: Claim must be made within 1 year of retirement.

The journey and shifting of household effects must be completed within one year from the date of retirement. Extensions are rarely granted unless due to medical emergencies.
Can I claim CTG if I settle in the same city?
Yes, but only if you actually change your residence. In such cases, the CTG is reduced to one-third of the standard rate (i.e., 1/3rd of 80% of Basic Pay).
Is the cost of transporting a personal car reimbursed?
Yes, officers of Level 6 and above are eligible for reimbursement of the cost of transporting one motor car/motorcycle by passenger train or truck to their place of settlement.
