KVS Admission 2026-27: Class 1 Registration Date & Rules

20.03.2026 is the starting date for Kendriya Vidyalaya fresh admissions for the 2026-27 academic session, effective for Class I and Balvatika, as announced by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (HQs). The registration will be conducted through the official KVS online portal.

KVS Admission Schedule 2026-27 Confirmed

The registration process for admission to Class I and Balvatika- 1/3 (wherever applicable) is to start from 20.03.2026 (10:00 AM) and shall remain open till 02.04.2026. For Class II onwards, the process will be offline only, subject to the availability of vacancies.

Class Commencement and Section Capacity Rules

The academic session commencement varies based on the admission type. Regular classes for Balvatika and Class I, where the entire section consists of fresh admissions, will commence from 20.04.2026. However, in sections where students have been promoted from the previous class, the classes will commence from 01.04.2026.

KVS has also clarified the formula for adding new sections. The intake capacity of a newly opened section shall be determined on the basis of the total enrolment considering all sections taken together. If there is one existing section in Class I with 52 students and an additional section is proposed, the total permissible strength is $40times2=80$. The new intake capacity will be $80-52=28$ students.

Principals of Kendriya Vidyalayas must thoroughly scrutinise the documents at the Vidyalaya level. The KVS headquarters has issued strict warnings regarding fraudulent submissions. On account of the submission of fake documents and entry age, the office was compelled to cancel the admission of some students and take administrative action against defaulting Principals.

  • Certificate of Date of Birth: Mandatory as proof of age.
  • Service Certificate: Required from the parent to determine priority category.
  • Address Proof: Essential for determining distance parameters.
  • Special Categories: Certificate of Disability in case of CwSN and Caste Certificate, if applicable.

EWS Quota and RTE Act Eligibility

A major clarification has been issued regarding the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) valid proofs under the RTE Act, 2009. In any case, the deserving candidate should not be denied admission if found otherwise eligible as per KVS Admission Guidelines.
